1964 Fender Stratocaster Olympic White
All-original and super cool 1964 Fender Stratocaster in custom-color Olympic White. An amazing sounding and playing guitar with a well-documented history.
This Stratocaster was bought new in early 1965 by Tony in Norwich, UK, and it remained in his possession until late 2022 when he finally decided to sell it. I purchased it from the second owner, a friend. The guitar has developed a beautiful patina over the years — the Olympic White has naturally aged into the classic “butter white / bone” shade, caused by the clear coat yellowing under UV light.
Of course, this guitar has all the pre-CBS specs we all love: spaghetti logo, mint green guard, clay dots, and black-bottom pickups. The neck is dated July 1964, the pots are dated week 22 of 1964, and the three original black-bottom pickups (dated august '64) are perfectly balanced, sounding every bit as fantastic as you’d expect from a pre-CBS Strat.
This guitar is in all-original condition with the expected signs of wear for its age. The backplate is missing, but everything else remains intact. A very cool detail: the guitar still features its original “World Cup Winnie” sticker on the back, added when England won the World Cup in 1966.
It comes in its original white Tolex Fender case, along with a booklet authored by Tony in 2022 documenting the full history of the instrument, complete with photos throughout his ownership.
Finding an all-original custom color Pre-CBS Strat is not easy —especially one with solid provenance. This guitar is not only a great playing guitar but also makes a standout addition to any collection
