1968 Fender Stratocaster – Candy Apple Red
A 1968 Fender Stratocaster in original Candy Apple Red, featuring original grey-bottom pickups and largely original hardware. The finish is original with no overspray, and both body and neck are free from structural issues. The guitar was purchased in March 1980 and has remained with the same owner since.
The instrument has undergone typical early ’80s modifications (inspired by Eddie). It was refretted in 1983 with jumbo frets and the fingerboard radius was slightly flattened to approximately 9”–12”. The body was routed for a bridge humbucker, cleanly executed. A brass nut was installed at the time, later replaced back to a bone nut.
All key original parts have been retained, including the grey-bottom pickups, pickguard, tuners, bridge and output jack. The electronics are mostly original. The guitar is currently fitted with a 5-way switch and the solder joints have been touched.
There is a former left-handed strap button hole that has been filled, and the pickup cavity was modified prior to current ownership. The guitar shows light cosmetic wear consistent with age.
Comes with a later Fender hardcase.
